CSTO online summit on the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan has begun
The Summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) started online, it was convened in connection with the aggravation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
Russian President Vladimir Putin takes part in the event.
The online summit is held behind closed doors. It is assumed that upon its completion, Armenia, which chairs the CSTO in 2022, will instruct the standing committee to provide journalists with the details of the discussion. The Kremlin may also publish information on the results of the event.
Recall that on the night of September 13, clashes took place on the border of the two countries with the use of heavy weapons and UAVs. As a result, there are dead and wounded, including among civilians. Baku and Yerevan accuse each other of a large-scale provocation.
The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan reported the death of 50 soldiers as a result of the escalation of tension on the border with Armenia.
Recall that with the mediation of Russia, the parties ceasefire agreement, which is in effect from today at 9:00 Moscow time.
To resolve the aggravated situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, work has been organized to activate the CSTO mechanisms.
It was also reported that Paris requested a discussion of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in the United Nations Security Council on September 14.
